Laura Kate has been a PCHQYA member for the past nine years. She is successful student athlete and has shown perseverance, dedication, humility, integrity and honesty in all areas of her life. She has learned these lessons from riding and showing horses since she was a young girl and believes riding has given her tools necessary for success in the next stage of her life. Throughout high school, she has used these qualities to maintain a 4.0 or above GPA each semester, which succeeding in 8 Honors/AP classes. She is also a 7-time varsity letterman, a two-time swimming All-American, and has participated in multiple clubs and completed over 75 hours of community service. In addition, to her academics and school-based athletics, she accomplished many achievements with her horse “Too Lazy To Hunt”. These include multiple Level 1 Championships, Top 5 placings at the Youth AQHA World show, numerous PCQHYA year-end awards and most recently was named the 2022 All Around PCQHYA all Around Youth.
Laura Kate will be continuing her education by attending the University of California, Davis where she will be majoring in Biological Sciences with hopes of becoming a pediatrician after completing medical school. She will also compete on their Division 1 equestrian team. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to compete in the sport she loves at the highest level. With the PCQHYA scholarship, she will be able to fulfill her dream of working in the medical field, and to being a member of one of the top equestrian teams in the country. Laura hopes that this scholarship will assist her to find success for the rest of her life.
