Southern California Reined Cow Horse Association hosted their last show of the year at Green Acres Ranch in Temecula on September 8-10th. The competition was hot, and temperatures were soaring as well.
Friday’s cutting and herd work saw Mark Gaiser board Spark N Boom taking home that blue in Open Cutting and Melvin Reynolds in second riding Heatt. The Non Pro cutting was won by Eric Trostad on Rey Hogan and second place to Dianne Hutchinson riding Chasin the Rain.
The Open Herd Work was won by Roy Rich riding SJR Smooth Cadillac for Rocking J Ranch and second place to Jason Grimshaw riding Rebel Wilson for Chris Lytle.
Non Pro Herd Work was won by Natscha Stevenson riding Sweet Little Ruby and Max Stein in second aboard Special Time Edition. Youth Herd was won by Skylyr Jonkey on Wright On Holly Time and second to Gabriana Wagner aboard JA Peekaboo Pep.
Saturday’s Cowhorse classes started off with Roy Rich winning Open Bridle riding SJC Smooth Cadillac, and he repeated the win on Sunday as well! Jesus Roman got second on Half Past Boon on Saturday and rode RJ Piano to the second place slot on Sunday. In the Limited Open Bridle Catherine Deel won on her RJ Boon Docs on Saturday and Rob Gruman finished second on LilRowdyOneTime. Sunday’s class was won by Christi Milburn aboard Spoon N Blue Sparks and second went to Alexandria Zingg riding Frankly Ima Boon. Non Pro Bridle and Intermediate Non Pro Bridle was won both days by Danielle Stanton aboard Go Tell That Fox. L1 Non Pro Bridle was won by Ruby Robbins on Wreckless Rey and second to K’Lynn Occhipinti riding RJ Smoke on the Water with the same results both days. Saturday’s Non Pro Hackamore was won by Stacy Duestenhaus riding Rey Romano and Lester Walker riding All Hail Da Vinci with the same pairings reversed on Sunday.
Open Hackamore rewarded both days Jason Grimshaw riding Rebel Wilson with Roy Rich riding DragnReys for Paul Yoder coming in second on Saturday and riding RJ Runaround Sue on Sunday. Saturday’s Junior Horse class was won by Roy Rich again on DragnReys and RJ Runaround Sue in second. Sunday’s Junior Horse class showed Roy taking first and second on RR Mrs Jackson and RJ Runaround Sue, respectively.
The Boxing Divisions started off with Youth Boxing and Junior Youth Boxing won by Garbriana Wagner and second to Hayes Stroschein. Non Pro Boxing was won by Cynthia Capetillo riding Tisa Sweet Kiss on Saturday and Sunday’s winner was Natascha Stevenson on Sweet Little Ruby. Ltd Non Pro Boxing was won by Suns Out Guns Out ridden by Jacqueline Aiello and second to Elizabeth Kretz on Nics Two Shiners on Saturday and Sundays winner was Paul Baker aboard RJ Wheres My Sock, with Rosie Garcia coming in second on Wildwood Courage. The Select Non Pro Boxing was won on Saturday byCynthia Capetillo on Tisa Sweet Kiss and Linda Kiernan on Sunday on FTR Smart Smoke. Linda also won the Box Drive on Saturday with Amy Diener winning on Sunday with RR Brown Eyed Girl.
