Top 3 Horse Racing Moments of All Time

Horse racing is one of the most ancient of all sports. It is very popular in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia as a spectator sport.

This is the reason why Royal Ascot betting offers for new customers is searched by a large number of people in these countries.

1- Red Rum’s miracle feat in the 1973 Grand National

Red Rum’s victory over Crisp was one of the most spectacular moments in horse racing history. Despite carrying greater weight, Crisp was dominating the 1973 Grand National, running ahead and clearing the fences with ease. The Fred Winter trained horse had established 20 lengths lead when he reached the second to last fence. There looked no other way for any other racehorse to make a comeback.

However, Red Rum greatly increased his pace and caught up with his rival in the dying moments of the race. Red Rum claimed this race and then went on to win two other Grand Nationals.

2- The rivalry between Kauto Star and Denman

Kauto Star and Denman, stablemates who were trained by the legendary Paul Nicholls, were great rivals who provided a great spectacle for the horse racing fans in the 2008 and 2009 editions of the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

There was a lot of buzz when Kauto Star, the 2007 Gold Cup winner, faced Denman in 2008 at Cheltenham racecourse. Denman surprised everyone with his performance and easily defeated his rival by seven lengths. But Kauto Star came out stronger the following year and took his revenge. By the time he crossed the finish line, he had established an astonishing 13 lengths gap with Denman. The 2010 Gold Cup went to Imperial Commander who defeated both Denman and Kauto Star.

3- Race of the Century

Many call this race as the ‘Race of the Century’. Two great horses Grundy and Bustino were pitted against each other in King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 1975. Grundy was Europe’s Champion Three-Year-Old while Bustino was Europe’s Champion Four-Year-Old.

Both horses fought greatly from the very beginning and provided a great spectacle for all the fans that day. Grundy won the race in the end but the margin of victory was only half a length. Grundy completed this race in 2 minutes and 26.98 seconds, which is a record that stands to this day.

After this outstanding contest, Bustino never made another appearance while his rival Grundy could compete in only one more race.
