Magnificent 7 All-Around Stock Horse Championship Returns to Horse Expo!
This open competition is based on an event called the World's Championship All-Around Stock Horse Contest originally initiated by Bobby Ingersoll in the 1970s and supported by the Pro Rodeo Hall of Famers Cotton Rosser and Walt Rodman. The contest was held periodically over the years until WSHE CEO and founder Miki Cohen and others resurrected the event after nearly 20 years, and gave the event a permanent home in search of the All-Around Stock Horse Champion.
Each year, more than a dozen of the nation's top riders convene from all across America for an intense one day riding competition, where one horse and one rider demonstrate their skill and versatility in 4 events: herd work, rein work, steer stopping and fence work. The action peaks on Friday Night when seven finalists are just four events away from a $25,000.00 purse, and the best horseman receive the title of Magnificent 7 All-Around Stock Horse Champion.

The AQHA Judge’s View on Fashion |
|
|
|
|
We asked several AQHA judges to give us
their opinion on fashion in the show ring.
1. What do you like to see a person dressed in for a Halter Classes?
2. What are the types of things a Halter exhibitor does when showing that you particularly like or dislike?
3. Do judges take notice of the saddle brand that horses are being ridden in?
4. In the Novice and Age group Trail classes does the "older" looking exhibitor have an advantage?
Should an exhibitor dress like they are older than their actual age?
5. In HUS classes how important is size (height) or color of the horse as opposed to movement?
6. Does it impact your opinion or placing of a horse in a HUS class if it is banded instead of braided?
7. In Western Pleasure how important is the outfit the contestant is wearing?
8. Do you think they gotten too 'Glitzy'?

The bright lights of Las Vegas beckon to gamblers and fun seekers of all ages, but they also call owners and exhibitors of American Quarter Horses. The South Point Equestrian and Events Center hosted the Silver Dollar Circuit during the weekend of March 18th to the 22nd. By offering four different judges, this circuit gives riders the chance to rack up a lot of points the course of one weekend—while having a great time to boot.
A Five Star Experience
“The Las Vegas Silver Dollar is a unique horse showing experience,” says Jan Bruner of Bruner Group Equine Events, the show’s producer. She couldn’t have put it any more succinctly. Not only does the show take place in Las Vegas, where entertainment and dining to suit any taste is just steps away, but the South Point Equestrian Center strives to make showing there a first class experience.
