How did you get involved training show horses?
I started riding as a kid at a girls riding camp and that got me hooked. I became a counselor and instructor at the camp and then went to the University of Findlay in Ohio and earned two bachelors of science degrees. One in Equestrian Studies and the other in Elementary Education
What is your favorite discipline?
I enjoy whatever I'm working on hardest at the moment. I truly love the versatility of the quarter horse and that we can do so much with them.
What is the hardest event you have had to overcome?
Most recently Trail! It is so in depth! I've competed in this event for a while, but not at the level required for the complexity and challenge of the courses we ride now. You really have to ride stride for stride and have a plan as to how you are going to maneuver through the courses. I love it though and I love the challenge of trying to improve each time I show. Presently, I have some great horses that I have been showing in trail (Zippos Kat Man Do, Eras Spectacular Zip, Sucha Slow Zippo & Can Do Invite)
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Getting my judges card.
What is the most important thing you tell your clients?
To remember the process and the journey not just the end result and above all - enjoy yourself and try to have a good time
What is the biggest career change you have made?
Moving to the West Coast and starting a new training business. Everyone here has been so supportive and helpful, it has made the transition a very positive experience.
