Turquoise or sterling jewelry is not something new, but it has been on a major rise lately in western fashion.
Hunting for the newest maker or the oldest pawn pieces to spice up your next look and to hold on to for years to come— I shop new and old jewelry every day adding to my ever growing collection. Turquoise doesn't have to just be for those big events or nights on the town. Modest pieces are great to have on hand for day to day wear as well. I’m excited to share with you my secrets and tips when it comes to all things turquoise and sterling, from the buying to styling process and everything in between.
My biggest quick tip when shopping for jewelry: make sure it's stamped. You want to see the maker's stamp and "sterling" on the back to verify its made with solid sterling. A makers stamp is usually just their initials showing who made the item. The more established the maker is, the easier it will be to research their work to know its worth. With man made turquoise on the rise, doing your research is key to make sure you are paying for quality hand made items.
Once you've purchased few pieces and want to wear them every day, just do it! Here are a few of my personal favorite ways to style a select few pieces:
A solid colored top with your favorite denim, anything from flares to skinny jeans, is a great way to dress it down for a more relaxed look. Layer it all up over a graphic tee with a messy bun and bright lips to wear out for a girls night. Slip into a slinky little dress with some heels and your most exquisite pieces for a date night with your significant other. Turquoise and silver truly goes with everything.
Last but definitely not least, my biggest piece of advice when it comes to turquoise and sterling is to hold on to the pieces you have and pass them on for generations to come. I cherish the jewelry that's been passed down to me with so much love. Every time I put it on I think about how beautiful my grandmother must have looked wearing these pieces. The pieces that have been gifted to me will never leave and keep me layering up my daily looks more and more. They always say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but I say that girl hasn't been introduced to turquoise yet.
